UV Printer VS Regular Printer? Why Is A UV Printer So Much More Expensive Than An Ordinary Printer?

- Jun 06, 2023-

What is the difference between a uv printer and an ordinary printer?

There are several reasons for this:
1. From the appearance, uv printers than ordinary printers are much larger and weigh much more, which is a very intuitive feeling. The weight of ordinary printers is only a few kilograms. While the lightest uv printer A4, A3 models, there are dozens of kilograms of weight. And medium-sized 7090, 1513 and other models are basically more than 100 kg. 2513 above the large machines, some weighing hundreds of kilograms.

2. UV printer and the difference between ordinary printers. To small A4 type machines, for example, uv printers and ordinary printers, the biggest difference is that more than a set of uv system. uv system includes, uv lamp, cooling system, control system. uv lamp is the key to make uv ink instant solidification, cooling system is the key to protect the life of the uv lamp, and control system is to coordinate their operation with other parts of the machine good cooperation.

3. Nozzle and ink, ordinary inkjet printers just to meet the needs of the picture class printing, the use of ink is mostly solvent-based ink. And uv printers use uv ink, more corrosive, and for printing relief effects, most use a separate nozzle to spray white ink, and finally to increase the brilliance, but also need to increase the nozzle to specifically spray varnish. Therefore, uv printers usually use more nozzles. Again, in order to meet the needs of large-scale factory production, uv printers used by Ricoh, Kyocera class printheads, as all from imports, so the price is also more expensive. Epson printheads are relatively cheap, but it is more suitable for small-scale, customized production.

4. Other accessories. As there are more printheads and their accessories, they are heavier. In the back and forth printing process, coupled with the high speed of printing, it is bound to produce greater inertial forces. So when designing the machine, it is important to have better guides, gratings and to use motors with more precise control. To ensure the absolute flatness of the platform on larger machines, sometimes a laser washout is used. The larger machines will also add a suction platform, using double guide rails, etc. All of these will invariably increase the manufacturing cost of the UV printer.

Good quality uv printers contain a lot of things, the price is on the expensive side is also justified.
